"The power of our stories is so deeply embedded in who we are and what we do and how we live." - Ava DuVernay
On Sunday, July 23, six women will take the stage at Grand View University’s Viking Theater from 4pm-6pm to share their true and lived experiences through storytelling. Stories to Tell My Daughter is a one-of-a-kind, storytelling experience that centers the stories of Black women. Tickets for the event are $20 and can be purchased online at Eventbrite. https://bit.ly/3O6qIqd.
I began producing Stories to Tell My Daughter in 2018. I simply wanted to create a safe space to lift up the lived experiences of Black women in my community. I feel honored that I get the privilege of celebrating the wisdom and diverse experiences of Black women in Des Moines and across the state.
Each woman’s story creates a beautiful synergy that pulsates throughout the evening and inspires some pretty amazing moments.
