Thank you for writing about the candy bowls. They were were always a sign that we were welcomed, we were loved, and somehow we knew when Grandma filled them over and over again, they were a sign of hope. I am going to get the candy bowl out and fill it with some peppermints. Thank you for the lovely reminder, Teresa.

Thank you Kathi. It was a pleasure to write this piece. The candy bowl that I am writing about still sits in the same place in my mother's home. She is no longer with us, but every time I go home to visit, I bring a few pieces of candy from that bowl home with me.
